Event Description Jennifer Noonan, assistant professor of art history at Caldwell College, will discuss art created during the Civil Rights Era. Her lecture, "Negotiating Identity: The Development of the 'Black Aesthetic' in Art in the 1960s," will focus on pieces created during the Black Power Movement including work by Betye Saar, Faith Ringgold, and David Hammons.
This lecture is part of the 2011-2012 Fine Arts and Performance Series, a collaboration of the Fine Arts Department and the Alva de Mars Megan Chapel Art Center. |
