Event Description Mind Over Major recognizes excellent work by Saint Anselm students in all disciplines. It encourages interdisciplinary dialogue and intellectual engagement outside the classroom. Twenty-five students will present their written work regarding this year's theme, "Body and Soul," that allows students to explore different scientific, artistic, literary, social, political, philosophical and technological perspectives on the human body and spirit.
A bi-annual event, the Mind Over Major Conference began in 1995. This year's panel includes a presentation on Greek and Christian notations of the afterlife, redemption in C.S. Lewis' "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," and the Mahayana teaching of "Buddha nature" in humans. Additional panels include papers on Abraham Lincoln, Oscar Romero and Pope John Paul II.
The conference is part of the S.O.A.R program, a series of events showcasing the academic work, artwork, and research completed of Saint Anselm students in all disciplines. Additional events include the Exhibition of Senior Thesis Projects in the Visual Art and Art History on April 13, the Outstanding Student Research Symposium on April 17, and the Science Poster Session on April 26. The full listing of events can be found at www.anselm.edu/SOAR. |
