Event Description Brian P. Kennedy, Ph.D., President, Director and C.E.O., Toledo Museum of Art, Ohio will lecture on Visual Literacy: Why We Need It Now.
Textual literacy and computer literacy are understood as essential
today, but arguably even more important is visual literacy. Being
competent to construct meaning from everything we see is essential to
critical thinking, but cannot be achieved if we do not have the basic
vocabulary and grammar of the art of seeing. Visionary leaders see
differently. Why? Because they have been trained to see both the big
picture and to look more closely.
This lecture is part of The Norwin S. and Elizabeth N. Bean Foundation Distinguished Lecturer Series in conjunction with the Alva de Mars Megan Chapel Art Center. This event is free and open to the public. |
