The Nile Project Contemporary & traditional music of the Nile River Delta: Musical masters of 11 Afr
Start Date: 4/22/2017Start Time: 7:30 PM
End Date: 4/22/2017

Event Description:
In one of the tightest cross-cultural collaborations in history, The Nile Project collective brings artists from eleven Nile basin countries together to make music that combines the rich diversity of one of the oldest populated areas on earth. Their purpose? To raise awareness for the social, cultural, and environmental issues that face those living along the world’s longest river and music is the key.

Whether it is ancient or modern, the music fuels pulsing rhythms, resonant harps and lyres, buzzing timbres, and stunning support vocals in no fewer than ten different languages that span the immense distance from the Nile Delta in Egypt to Lake Victoria in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. The result is pure cultural magic that has thrilled thousands of people from Lincoln Center to the United Nations The Nile Project offers the mystique and fine artistry of East African music in an extraordinary evening that celebrates the great Nile river that nourished our deepest ancestors and has fed our oldest stories.

A committed, euphoric international coalition. The New York Times
From the playful swing of Sudan, to the sultry, funky grooves of Ethiopia, the more subdued colors of Egyptian art music, the musical colors speak for themselves. NPR
