Ron Paul on the Mounting Financial Crisis
Start Date: 4/15/2011Start Time: 6:00 PM
End Date: 4/15/2011

Event Description:
U.S. Congressman Ron Paul (TX-14) will discuss the current financial crisis and his ideas for the future in a talk titled “America in Danger: The Mounting Financial Crisis and How Liberty Can Save Us.”

Throughout his tenure in Congress, Paul has become known for his libertarian positions on many political issues, and he has been a proponent for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to monetary policies based on commodity-backed currency.

Paul served in Congress during the late 1970s and early 1980s, and then voluntarily relinquished his House seat in 1984 to return to his medical practice as a specialist in obstetrics/gynecology. In 1997, he was reelected to Congress to represent the 14th Congressional district of Texas, where he currently serves on the House Financial Services Committee, the International Relations committee, and the Joint Economic Committee.

Paul continues to advocate for a dramatic reduction in the size of the federal government and a return to constitutional principles. In addition, Paul has run for President of the United States twice. In 1988, he ran as the nominee of the Libertarian Party, and in 2008 as a candidate for the Republican nomination.

Paul is the author of several books, including Challenge to Liberty; The Case for Gold; and A Republic, If You Can Keep It. He has been a distinguished counselor to the Ludwig von Mises Institute, and is widely quoted by scholars and writers in the fields of monetary policy, banking, and political economy. He has received many awards and honors during his career in Congress from organizations including the National Taxpayers Union, Citizens Against Government Waste, and the Council for a Competitive Economy.
