Play: Urban Tricksters, Rebel Clowns and the Unruly Mob
Start Date: 4/5/2017Start Time: 12:30 PM

Event Description:

Carmen McClish, Assistant Professor, Department of English, will give a presentation as part of the Institute’s Faculty Research Colloquium series titled "Play: Urban Tricksters, Rebel Clowns, and the Unruly Mob." Dr. McClish’s discussion will focus on playful antics in public spaces including clowning and street art. By offering concrete examples of play in public spaces, citizenship and social protest can be understood in new and dynamic ways.

Dr. McClish’s research focuses on the intersection of communication and culture with specific interest in play and politics in U.S. public spaces, and everyday life and carnival culture in the Caribbean.
